Last week, on the 14th of March, the American College of Higher Education, officially launched their MBA and PhD programmes partnering up with the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST). Mr Rauf Hibathul Hakeem, the minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education has been invited for the event alongside several other distinguished guests from the American College of Higher Education and the Malaysia University of Science and Technology. Among them was Mr Ismail Mohamed Singh; the Minister Counselor, High Commissioner of Malaysia, Prof. Premkumar Rajagopal, the President of the Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Dr. Harwindar Singh, the Dean of the School of Business in MUST, Mrs. Sherryn Yaseen, the CEO of the American College of Higher Education, Mr. Victor S. Patrick, Director Enrollment Management/General Manager of American College and Dr. Padmini Sirimanne, Director of Studies of American College

We hope our MUST MBA and PhD programmes will equip the students for tomorrow’s business opportunities while keeping them motivated to face today’s business reality.”

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Mr. Rauf Hibathul Hakeem said, “The non-state sector educational sphere in this country has been going in for the past 20-30 years and have been filling a void that existed in the higher educational arena for the reason that the entire university system in this country at the moment accommodates only 33,000 of those who pass the GCA A/L University entrance examination. That is almost 1/5th of the total that qualifies to enter university. The non-state higher education sector is giving an opportunity for these students, those who are qualified but not qualified enough to get a seat in a government university.”

He also added, “We have learnt how Malaysia has become a preferred destination for higher education. And this has been taken as a guiding example for us too, in our own small way, to try and exploit the opportunity that is there in this region”

Any student with the professional qualification of CIMA, CMA, CIM, IBSL or any other accepted qualification is eligible to apply this MUST MBA programme after a duration of 14 months and on successful completion of the MBA degree, the graduates will have the opportunity to pursue a PhD in management. Master of Business Administration is a Dual Qualification offered with CMI (Charted Management Institute) the UK and the applicants must possess a recognised Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of at least 2.50 (below 2.50 will have to have a minimum 5 years of work experience) or a similar professional qualification.

The Master of Business Administration will immerse the students in learning through dynamic coursework, leadership portfolio development, case studies and project papers. This offer a wider range of disciplines including Managerial Economics, Leadership and Management in Organisations, Business Statistics, Financial Management and much more, enhancing the students’ skill-sets in specific business areas while increasing marketability with employers.
