Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Sri Jayewardenepura University

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) will hold a series of events to celebrate its 60th anniversary, which falls on April 2, 2019.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations will include a blood donation camp tomorrow (18) at the USJP’s Sumangala Hall, from 8 am-5 pm.
This will be followed by a ‘Health & Wealth Camp’ on April 3, by its Medical Faculty, at the BMICH, which is opened to the public, with the USJP’s medical specialist at their service.

Additionally, Works published in 2018 in the USJP, such as Novels, Short Stories, Poems, Songs and Newspaper Columns will be considered for the Vidyodaya Literary Award Ceremony to be held on April 13. The scholarly findings will be published in a special volume of Research publications. A special Commemoration Volume to pay homage to USJP’s founding fathers, will also take place at the BMICH, in addition to the exhibition of Research by way of a journal launch at the event.

Sandeshawali Kawinaluwa, a musical based on ‘Sandesa’ poems, written during the Kotte Period (1412-1597), will also be presented at a musical evening on April 2, by the Cultural Committee of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, at the BMICH, at 5 pm.
On April 6, a traditional ‘Shanthi Karmaya’ (ceremonial dance) will take place to invoke blessings upon the University. – CC
