The Wesley College junior rugby teams enjoyed a successful opening week to their season activities by winning six out of seven games played prior to the First XV game against Kingswood College at the Nittawela ground in Kandy.

Despite the senior team losing the all important Blaze Trophy encounter 12-17, the juniors enjoyed a more triumphant day by winning all their six games without conceding a point. The only game they could not win, was the Under-18s, which ended in a thrilling 5-5 draw.

Prior to that the Under-16 team had beaten their counterparts from Kingswood by a slender 5-0, but the games played earlier were more pleasing for the Wesleyites. The Wesley Under-14 recorded a commanding 41-0 win against Kingswood, while the Under-13 Wesley team won their game by 35-0.

The Under-12s of Wesley and Kingswood played three encounters under different categories. The first win for Wesley for the day was recorded by their Under-12 ‘A’ side, who beat Kingswood ‘A’ by 20-0, while the Wesley Under-12 ‘B’ won their game against Kingswood ‘B’ by 30-0. The Wesley Under-12 ‘C’ team came out with a even more stupendous performance to beat Kingswood ‘C’ by 35-0.
