The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) last week complained that no action has been taken against a Principal of a leading Tamil school in Bambalapitiya, for the alleged embezzlement of monies collected under the School Development Fund (SDF).
CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin said that, although the Ministry of Education (MoE) has completed the inquiry into the case, no action has been taken.

Further, the Principal who had taken it upon herself to construct living quarters for her and her family, by combining several classrooms in the school, is continuing to live there.

Last month, the CTU lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission against the Principal for allegedly using SDF monies for her personal benefit. She has been accused of receiving Rs 5 million from about 80 Grade 1 students, for admission in 2018. - CC
