NTB sends a message
Nations Trust Bank wrapped up another spectacular Corporate Social responsibility activity last weekend where Weligama Beach was cleaned with the help of volunteers and supporters. They were able to collect more than 50 bags of trash, and 12 bags of recyclable items were handed over to the Thalpe Recycling Centre. They also designed and installed two sign boards on the beach.
The Bank staff- zone EM1 collaborated with the Divisional Secretariat, Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department, Coastal Guard in Mirissa, and Municipal Council. Asian Grammar International School, Lions Club of Weligama city, Business & Professionals Society- Weligama, together with Elsewhere Surf Camp joined to this event to make a difference.
There were many volunteers who gave up their weekend or took off from work to dedicate their time to this impactful event and they even enjoyed meeting other volunteers. Further, they expressed an interest for participating in more events like this beach cleanup, in future. ”I was amazed to see so many volunteers and it was good what they’ve been doing”, a resident guest commented on that day.
NTB would like to pass a huge ‘Thank you’ to all the hardworking volunteers who made a sunny weekend even brighter. The feedback had been really positive, not just the fact that a huge amount of beach litter being removed from the beach, but also the positive message sent out there to help and encourage people to take action to protect their beach in Weligama.
