Last September, our undergraduate fashion design students were given the opportunity to visit Paris & Milan as part of their curriculum, taking in a series of trade shows, industry visits and workshops over their 10 days of stay in Europe.

First few days consisted of academic workshops at our main campus Mod’Art International Paris followed by visits to the world famous Premier Vision trade show, Azzedine Alaïa’s exhibition, factory tours, shop visits and lots of fun as always!

As someone who is really passionate about streetwear, it was great to see what the vibe in Paris is like compared to Sri Lanka
- says Anjalie Athukoralage, 2nd Yr Student

One of the students shared her experience about the lectures that were delivered by Mod’Art academics: “The teaching was of a high level with the latest information which supplemented our degree module content”

“ The visit to Premier Vision, Fondaizone Prada, Carl Leich & many more in Sep 2018 was an exceptional experience, it enhanced my learning and made it come to life.”
- Aslam Khan, 2nd Yr student, Bachelor in Fashion Design

Students enjoyed a Parisian shopping experience at the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, the world-renowned department store to prestigious brands such as Chanel, Dior, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Maje and Louis Vuitton, to name a few!

Walking through the streets of Paris they enjoyed exploring the different buildings with interesting modern street art exhibitions.

After 7 days at Paris they headed towards Milan, the city that strides out in style, from its fashion houses to its cultural delights. Students went on factory and museum visits which were followed by an engaging question and answer session with the host.

Few students commented-
“It’s the most beautiful place to shop that I have ever seen!”

A few favorite things students did in Milan:

Visiting Carl Laich, the creators of luxury leather goods!

Exploring Fondaizone Prada, where modern art meets history. The gold building outside was breathtaking. It is a bit of a maze – but we loved wandering through the narrow halls to uncover what lie on the next floor. The art is intriguing, the architecture is unforgettable, and the coffee? Perfection. Even the staircases felt more like art than function!

Wandering through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the glass-roofed shopping arcade designed in 1877. We found some of the most famous Italian and Milanese brands here. Fantastic architecture & the glass dome was amazing.

ModaPelle Academy in Milano conducted a workshop for our students & they had an interactive leather bag making session by a highly qualified technical designer.

Industry study tours to Fashion Capitals are designed to give our students the experience that will benefit their career. The tours are a compulsory part of their 3-year degree study at Mod’Art offering a unique opportunity to enrich their learning.

We strongly believe that this allows them to:

Develop a broad range of work skills and attributes that are particularly valuable in a globalised economy.

Understand international professional practice.

Challenge their values, perceptions and assumptions.

Gain an insight into another culture.

Be a part of a team and establish new networks.

Find solutions to complex problems.

As a student of the Mod’Art Degree Programme at the Sri Lanka Branch you have the opportunity to take part in the international study tour. Gain global exposure. Gain hands-on experience. Explore the authentic France & Italy with its people & the rich fashion culture.
