A 76-year-old Nuwara Eliya man has been arrested for producing forged driving licences.

The man and another suspect, who was 56 years old, were remanded till tomorrow by Nuwara Eliya Magistrate Pamoda Jayasekara.

Police said the two suspects sold a forged driving licence for Rs. 45,000. They said the suspects were arrested after they detected a forged driving licence in the possession of a driver during a random check on motorists at the Kelagala Junction on the Nuwara Eliya Road.

Further investigations led to a police raid on a house, where the suspects were operating their illegal business. Detectives found four forged driving licences in the house and arrested one of the suspects, who later cooperated with the police to arrest the other suspect.
