In the Premier Club T-20 tournament matches that got underway saw NCC skipper Angelo Perera (46) and Farveez Maharoof (31) coming up with a heroic rescue act when they were struggling on 13 for 5. The pair added 50 runs for the 6th wicket and helped them arrive at a reasonable total of 120 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Then the NCC’s national pace duo of  Lahiru Kumara (2 for 12) and Lasith Malinga (2 for 30)  shared four Kalutara TC wickets to limit the opposition 104 all out in 18.4 overs and coast to a healthy 16 run win at the BRC ground.

A quick fire 73 in only 36 balls inclusive of six boundaries and five sixes by Ashan Randika and an allround performance from Janith Silva paved the way for Army SC to record a convincing 102 runs win over Negombo CC in the Premier T20 cricket tournament encounter played at Welisara.

Ashan was associated in two fruitful partnerships first a 51 runs opening wicket stand with Leo Fransisco followed by a 63 runs for the second wicket with Janith Silva helping Army SC taking first lease of the wicket make a challenging score of 218 runs. Later Janith along with Ajantha Mendis shared six wickets between them to bowl out Negombo CC for a score of 116 runs.

Half tons by Avishka Fernando and Sadeera Samarawickrama who together added 103 runs for the first wicket enabled Colts CC record a comfortable 57 runs win over Air Force SC in another match played at Panagoda.

A valuable 90 runs partnership for the seventh wicket between Sameera de Zoysa and Ishan Jayaratne enabled Ragama CC overcome BRC by four wickets at Colts ground.

In other matches that were played saw CCC and Badureliya CC securing easy wins against Saracens SC and Navy SC played at Reid Avenue and Katunayake.

In the matches played in the evening session saw Moors SC pull off a thrilling three wicket win over SSC with one ball to spare at the Colts ground.

Chilaw Marians, Tamil Union and Bloomfield recorded comfortable wins against Police SC, Lankan CC and Panadura SC played at BRC and Reid Avenue.
