World Champion, Nishantha Fernando and reigning national champion Chamil Cooray along with Shaheed Hilmi and Suraj Maduwantha made their way to the semi-finals in the Men’s Singles event at the 50th Carrom Nationals continued for the 5th day at the Carrom Federation Headquarters, Kohuwala yesterday.

In the other quarter-final matches took place yesterday in the Women’s Singles Yasika Rahubadda, Chalani Lakmali, Maduka Dilshani and Joseph Roshita qualified to play in the semi-finals.

In the Finals played earlier in the day, in the Men’s Doubles Nishantha Fernando/Suraj Maduwantha combination beat Chamil Cooray and Brindley Wickremasinghe combination to clinch the championship and in the Women’s Doubles Yasika Rahubaddha partnered by Chalani Lakmali beat Shashika Sandamali and Madusha Vithana to win title.

Chamil Cooray and Tashmila Kavindi beat Anas Ahamed and Rebecca Dalrene to emerge winners in the Mixed Doubles.

The semi-finals and finals of Men’s and Women’s Singles will be worked off at the third Floor of the Jaic Hilton today commencing at 8.00am.
