Veddahs at the Olympics

The Olympic Day Run 2017 organised by the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka was held at Ampara on Friday, with the participation of over 1500 students from the area.  The torch bearers at the event were former AASL President Sugath Tillekeratne — athletics and Niluka Karunaratne – Badminton.  The picture shows a contingent of the Veddah community of Sri Lanka making a ritualistic dance performance to invoke blessings to the event and inaugurate it.
