The much delayed Singer U20 Schools Rugby 7’s which normally heralds the schools rugby season and will now be played on July 1 and 2 at the Race Course rugby ground in Reid Avenue.

The tournament will see the participation of all the top rugby playing schools who up to now has confirmed their participation. There will be 32 teams in the fray divided into eight groups of four.

Denzil Darling, secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association said the tournament will be played according to the new laws of IRB which came into effect from June 1. Last year S. Thomas’ emerged champions defeating Isipathana.

The teams participating are:

  •  ‘A’: S. Thomas’, Science, St. Sylvester’s, CWW Kannanagara MMV
  •  ‘B’: Royal Colombo, St. Anthony’s, Thurstan, Sri Sumangala Kandy
  •  ‘C’: Wesley, Vidyartha, St. Aloysius Galle, Piliyandala Central
  • ‘D’: St. Peter’s, Lumbini MV, Nalanda, Royal Panadura
  •  ‘C’: Zahira, Prince of Wales, St. Benedict’s, Moratu MV
  •  ‘F’: Trinity, DSS, Ananda, Carey
  •  ‘G’: St. Joseph’s, Kingswood, Richmond, Mahanama
  •  ‘H’: Isipathana, Dharmaraja, Maliyadeva, Lalith Athulathmudali MMV Mt. Lavinia
