Katy Perry has announced the release of her new album ‘Witness’ for 9th June. The album will be her fifth studio production. So far two singles, ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ and ‘Bon Appetit’ have been released from the forthcoming album. The new album will reflect the changes taking place in her personnel life as well as the world around her. The 32 year old is also planning a tour commencing in Columbus, Ohio on 7th September. Meanwhile Katy is expected to be featured on Calvin Harris’ forthcoming album ‘Funk Wave Bounces Vol.1’.

‘Despacito’
is the new hit song sweeping across the world. The Spanish language song by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee has taken the UK singles chart by storm with a little help from Justin Bieber’s remix which provides the English segment to the Latin pop/ reggaeton track. Last week this smooth song took a major climb on the UK singles chart from 22 to No: 4. Within a week ‘Despacito’ had 6.2 million streams aided by Justin Bieber’s vocals, to push the song to the No: 1 spot. Thus is became the first Spanish language song to reach the top of the UK singles chart since Sak Noel’s ‘Loca People’ in 2011. The actual artists behind ‘Despacito’ are Luis Fonsi a popular singer and Daddy Yankee a popular rapper, both from Puerto Rico in Central America. Fonsi is 39 and Yankee is 40. They co-wrote the song with Erika Ender. The song is a non album track. It’s not unusual for foreign language songs to top the UK chart. They have to be really catchy or connected with a trend sweeping across the globe. The last time such trend took to world by storm was back in 2012 with the Korean hit ‘Gangnam Style’ by the South Korean artist Psy. The song sold 1.6 million copies in the UK.

Meanwhile for Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, ‘Despacito’ is their very first UK singles chart topper, but for Canadian Justin Bieber it is his sixth UK No: 1.

Ousted after a week at the top of the UK chart is the song ‘I’m The One’ by DJ Khaled and his group of friends namely Quavo from Migos, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne and of course Justin Bieber. The R&B tropical house track was also Khaled’s first UK chart topping hit. He became perhaps the first artist of Palestinian heritage to grace top of the UK chart. ‘I’m The One’ is taken from his album ‘Grateful’. This week the song lost out to ‘Despacito’ by falling a notch on the chart.

Harry Styles was always regarded as the most popular member of One Direction. The moment his world tour was announced and tickets were placed online on 5th May, they were snapped up within seconds. Harry Styles Live On Tour will commence in San Francisco, US on 19th September. The North American tour will cover 13 dates, the European tour will cover six dates, the UK four dates and Australasia will be six dates. His tour for 2017 will end on 8th December in Tokyo, Japan. Just a fortnight ago he scored his debut single ‘Sign Of The Times’ topped the UK singles chart.

Rita Ora is to release her new single ‘Your Song’ on 26th May. The track is been written by Ed Sheeran.
