Western Province Slicers National Champs with 6 Golds
The curtain came down on the 42nd National Carrom Championships conducted by the Carrom federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL), with Western Province (WP) emerging overall champions winning 6 Gold Medals, at the Sports Ministry. Events at this year’s edition were Men’s and Women’s Singles. Men’s and Women’s Doubles and Men’s and Women’s Team events, which had 87 Slicers representing 9 Provinces. NorthWestern Province (NWP) were Runner-up with 2 Silver and 2 Bronze, while Sabaragamuwa with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze finishing 3rd. Chamil Cooray and Chalani Lakmali Liyanage were adjudged ‘Best Players’ for Men and Women respectively. Y.M.P. Udayanga of NWP who made the only ‘White Slam’ of the tournament, won a special award from CFSL President, Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe.
