All arrangements have been finalized to conduct the final of the Under-15 Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and sponsored by Prima Group for the 10th successive year on September 29 and 30 at the SSC grounds.  Initially the inter-provincial tournament will get underway after the completion of the Prima Under-15 inter-district tournament which is now in progress around the island.  The inter-district tournament which is in progress now is being contested by 32 teams including from the North and East comprising five teams from Northern District – Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullativu and Kilinochchi.

The best players coming out from the inter-district tournament will be selected for the ten Provincial teams that will be competing in the inter-provincial tournament.  Mohan de Silva, Secretary of SLC stated that eighty per cent of the players who made it to the top have played in this tournament, so this is an important tournament for the young players.  Some of the recent players to come out big are: Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Niroshan Dickwella, Binura Fernando, Anuk Fernando, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Priyamal Perera. All have represented the Sri Lanka Under-19 Team.  The preliminary round matches will get underway on September 17 and will end on September 23. The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played at the CCC and NCC Grounds on September 26 and there will be a live telecast of the final. - MSA
