Royal Colombo, Good Shepherd Kotahena Schools Cager Champs

Royal College (RC) Colombo and Good Shepherd Convent (GSC) Kotahena bagged the Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball championships respectively, at the All Island Schools Games conducted by the Ministry of Sports at Jaffna’s St. Patrick’s and Central College courts.  In the Boys’ final, RC beat St. Joseph’s College (SJC) Colombo 54-42, while in the Girls’ final, GSC beat Holy Family Convent (HFC) Bambalapitiya 45-42.

In the Boys’ Semi-finals, RC beat Royal Institute (RI) 51-43 and SJC beat Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa (JVW) 44-31. RI beat JVW 64-36 for 3rd place.  In the Girls’ Semi-finals, GSC beat Lyceum International Wattala (LIW) 59-36 and HFC beat Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda 58-22. LIW beat Dharmasoka College 60-31 for 3rd place. RC’s Rukshan Atapattu and GSC’s Nirma Sasanthi won the respective ‘Best Player’ Awards.
