‘Fête de La Musique’ (International Music Day), organised by Alliance Française de Colombo will come alive once again on Saturday, 2nd July 2016  from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm  at their  Air Conditioned Auditorium  at  No. 11, Barnes  Place, Colombo7.It was planned to have Fete de la Musique on 21 June but due to the prevailing situation in the Country it was postponed to 2nd July.

This unique musical event ‘Fête de La Musique’ began in France in 1982 on 21st of June, the very first day of summer. Professional and Amateur Musicians in France take to the streets and parks every year on this day to celebrate the dawn of summer after a dismal spring. Now this music festival ‘Fête de La Musique’ is celebrated all over the world.

‘It is free of charge and thousands and thousands of people flock to these parks and streets and performers embrace all kinds of music and nothing is out of place and it goes on the whole day’ said Mangalika Hewage of Alliance Française de Colombo.

‘Here in Sri Lanka, this is your chance to expose your Hidden Musical Talents, it is for everyone.

Amateurs, Professionals and there will be no age limit too. The language is no barrier either and you could sing in any language…’ she added ‘Fête de La Musique’ is open for all individuals, school bands, schools music clubs,  interact clubs,  music groups , ballet schools / groups, dancing schools, music associations  etc…etc,….etc…

Alliance Française de Colombo invites all young and old people, who can Sing (In any Language), play any musical instrument, dance etc..  The music style could be anything from Pop, Jazz, Rap, Country and Western; Disco, Rock, classics, Baila or anything in music goes…..

Alliance Française de Colombo will provide with the venue, sound systems and also background music for singers. Popular band Annesley Malawana and the Super Chimes will be in action at the ‘Fête de La Musique’.

Individuals are free to bring their own musical instrument or have their own music or group.

There will also be many professional artistes who will perform as guest stars of the event.

‘Fête de La Musique’ will be a fun filled event and with a carnival atmosphere.
