A swashbuckling unbeaten innings of 150 by Anulian Harshitha Madhavi helped Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda to book a berth to the semi-finals of the ongoing Inter-Schools Girls Under 19 cricket tournament quarter final match played at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya grounds last weekend.

Anula the defending champions scored a cake walk victory over Pindeniya National School by a massive 236 runs. While Anula enters the semis, last year’s runner-up Devapathiraja College, Ratgama also found things easy in defeating Ethiliwewa Madya Maha Vidyalaya by 172 runs in the other quarter-final matche.

Anulian Harshita’s innings scored off 77 balls which included 21 hits to the ropes and four over. Sithmi Hirasha too lent a great support for the hard hitting Madahavi to score a well compiled 77. Chasing Anula’s massive total of 277 for 5 Pindeniya NS were all at sea against the bowling attack of Ashmi Gunawardene (3/0), Janadhi Anaya (2/2) and Himasha Kumarage (2/5) and were bundled out for 41 in just 14.3 overs.

Devapathiraja College too had a plain sail to the semi-finals as they trounced Ethiliwewa MV by 172 runs. Pooja Rashmi top scored with 86 while Parami Mahinsala (44), Imesha Dulani (44) and Iresha Chaturani (31n.o.) were the other main scorers for the Ragama lasses as they posted a 274 for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 25 overs. Ethiliwewa MV batswomen found difficult in handling Sathya Sandeepan who claimed 6 for 17 and were bundled out for 102 in 16.5 overs. – LR
