BRC put themselves in a strong position of securing their fifth successive outright win of the Emerging Trophy cricket tournament when they had Air Force SC struggling on day two in the match played at the Air Force ground in Katunayake.

BRC completely dominated the opening day’s proceedings as they chalked up a score of 339 which came on the back of half tons made by Maduranga Zoysa, Rajitha Wickramarachchi and Indika de Saram and Air Force SC facing six overs ended day one on six for no loss.

The second day’s play saw Air Force SC being unable to make any headway as they lost wickets at regular intervals and was tottering on 68 for 6.

They never recovered from there on being bowled out for just 134 runs which gave BRC a lead 205 runs. Air Force SC made to follow on and left with the daunting task of erasing a deficit of 205 runs put in another pathetic batting performance and was struggling on 130 for 6 needing a further 75 runs to avoid an innings defeat when play gets underway on the final day today.

A knock of 127 that comprised 12 boundaries and two sixes by Chamara de Soysa supported by half tons from Heshan Perera and Thushira Madanayake helped Lankan CC resuming on their overnight score of 276 for 7 to end their innings making 362 against Moratuwa SC in the match played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa. Moratuwa SC in their turn was badly placed on 155 for 7.

Buddika Hasaranga made a 112 with 13 boundaries and a six while Dhanushka Gurusinghe and Dinushka Malan cracked half tons for Navy SC resuming from their overnight score of 217 for 6 to post a massive score of 419 against Kurunegala YCC in the match played at Welisara.

The opening day’s play saw Kurunegala YCC being bundled out for 126 and batting the second time ended day two on 152 for 1 with Dharshana Mahawatte making an unbeaten ton.

Kalutara TC has already taken a first inning lead over hometown rivals Kalutara PCC at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona. Panadura SC were 275 for 8 against Police SC at Dambulla.
