The MCA ‘D’ Division 40 Over League Tournament 2016 got off to an explosive start last week-end, as Vallibel Finance and Dialog Axiata ‘A’ sent their opponents on a real leather hunt.  Vallibel Finance making their first appearance in this division scored 314 for 9 in 40-Overs and went on to overwhelm DPMC by 227 runs; Dialog Axiata did even better scoring 416 for 5 in 40 Overs and crushed NDB Bank by 156 runs.

The Dialog batsmen who made mince meat out of the bankers were, opener, Denesh Vindyaka, the first centurion of the tournament (108 in 62 balls, inclusive of four sixes and seventeen fours), skipper Dilhara de Silva (73) and the couple of batsmen who remained unbeaten were C. Jayabandara (58) and Shyamal Perera (50 in 18 balls)

Commercial Leasing Co. too went on a run-spree, scoring 285 for 9 in 40 overs, thus beating Softlogic Holdings by 152 runs.
While the batsmen made merry, the bowlers who held their guns were, Dilshan Ratnayake from Vallibel Finance (7 for 26 in 6.3 overs Vs. DPMC) and Samith Gallage from Commercial Leasing Co. (6 for 23 Vs. Softlogic Holdings). The tournament will be continued this week-end with a card of nine matches.
