Ranil directs Army Chief to provide necessary security to MR, Gota
View(s):Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the military to provide the necessary security to former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, proportionate to their threat level, Army Chief Daya Ratnayake said yesterday.
He said this is standard procedure relating to ex VIP’s and hence, the security alotted to the former president and defence secretary will be maintained accordingly without interruption.
Security will also be extended to their immediate family members, but will however, be reassessed from time to time, said Lt Gen Ratnayake. (LB)
