Right arm pace and spin combination of Lahiru Kumara and skipper Raven Sayer shared ten wickets thus helping Trinity crush Dharmapala by an innings and 51 runs in their Under-19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Kadirana yesterday.

Lahiru who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 28 and Raveen 4 for 13 wrecked Dharmapala batting the second time. Dharmapala were all out for 41 in just 14.2 overs.

Openers Kasun Abeyratne and Isuru Fernando partnered to guide Thurstan pull off a stunning 6-wicket win over Richmond in the match ended at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.

The duo gave the Thurstanites in pursuit of 171 runs for victory in 49 overs a flying start when they put on a match winning stand of 94 runs which paved for them to reach the target with seven balls to spare.

In fact Richmond suffered an outright defeat after a lapse of more than two years. They were the champion school cricket side on the last two seasons. Zahira recorded their first outright win of the season when they defeated Bandaranayake MV Gampaha by 101 runs in the match concluded at Maradana.

St. John’s Jaffna coasted to their fourth outright win with a 6-wicket win over Christ King College Ja-ela in Jaffna. The Johnians had put themselves in a strong position on day one and they continued their dominance on the second day. Christ King resuming on their overnight score of 78 for 9, was able to add only another five runs being bowled out for 83 in reply to the home teams’ 196.

In the other matches that were played St. Peter’s, St. Joseph’s, S. Thomas’ and Kegalu MV recorded first innings wins over Ananda, St. Sebastain’s Moratuwa, St. Benedict’s and Asoka MV Colombo respectively.
