Dr. Vigneswaran passes away
View(s):Sri Lanka Badminton suffered a great loss with the demise of Dr. R. Vigneswaran on Thursday.
Dr. Vigneswaran, a reputed dental surgeon started serving badminton from the Uva Province in 1960s and had a big hand in the promotion and development of the game in the province. He was largely responsible in organising the Uva Province Open Tournament which was a National Ranking Tournament.
After moving to Colombo Dr. Vigneswaran was elected President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association and he devoted his time and resources to the development of the game which he loved most. The dream that came through of the late Doctor was the construction of the SLBA Stadium during his tenure as the President.
He leaves his wife Radha who always lent her support to her husband’s endeavours in promoting badminton. – LR
