Crafts of Kathmandu for the season

View(s):

The Hermitage Gallery invited a select clientele to view their latest offerings for the festive season- the crafts of Kathmandu – a diverse trove of lovingly selected mountain treasures.

The collection abounds in variety, reflecting the multiple threads of culture, philosophy and tradition: Tibetan prayer wheels, Vajra brass thunderbolts, Phurba ritual daggers, Himalayan singing bowls, Thangka silk paintings, and carved antique windows.

The Hermitage has long been known for bringing in rare items from exotic places. For over a decade, the proprietors Safiya and Yasmin have been bringing down rare pieces – Rajasthani furniture, Balinese statuary and Indian silver jewellery.

The Crafts of Kathmandu collection is now in stock at the Hermitage, 28 Gower Street, Colombo 5. Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
