The Sri Lanka men’s under 21 hockey team comprising of 18 players accompanied by four officials will take wing to Bangladesh on Thursday

(November 27) to take part in the Fourth men’s Junior Asian Hockey Federation Cup international hockey championships to be held in Dhaka from November 30 to December 7.

The participating teams are: Chinese Taipei, Oman, Thailand, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh. Shahid Kuthubdeen of Royal Hockey Club will lead the Sri Lanka team with Surendran Jayendran of Old Bens Sports Club as his deputy.

The team includes six schoolboy stickers, two from Vijaya College Matale and one each from St. Sylvester’s Kandy, Dharmaraja Kandy, Joseph Vas Wennappuwa and Royal College Colombo 7.

The team underwent training for more than two months at the Astro Turf at Reid Avenue Colombo 7 under the supervision of two experienced coaches Anuruddha Herath Bandara and Pulasthi Lanerolle.

Sri Lanka will play their first match against ChineseTaipei on November 30.
