Caterpillar Cricket a success
View(s):United Tractor and Equipment (UTE) dominated at the inaugural CAT District T-10/20 Cricket tournament, beating three visiting teams at a tournament held at the Sinhalese Sports Club Grounds, Colombo.
The first semi-final match pitted the GMMCO Giants against the Bangalore Tigers, with the latter winning by 14 runs. The next semi-final match saw the UTE Challengers eliminating TIPL Panthers by 7 wickets
In the Grand Final UTE Challengers’ top batsman Nirmal Jayasuriya contributed 78 runs to their final score of 175 for 2 wickets whilst also displaying his skills as an all-rounder claiming 2 wickets; Bangalore Tigers in their run chase were bundled out for 90 runs. Apart from Nirmal Jayasuriya’s two wickets, Nuwan Ranathunga’s 3 wickets in 4 overs and Akila Malan’s 2 wickets saw UTE Challengers winning this inaugural match easily.
