People’s Bank launches phase two of ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Programme’

People’s Bank recently initiated the second phase of its highly successful ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Programme’, in the Puttalam and Kalutara districts. The ‘Entrepreneurial Glory Programme’ is a workshop dedicated to enlightening and supporting the SME community in the country and is organised by the SME Development Unit of the People’s Bank.

“The two programmes were held amidst the enthusiastic participation of members of the SME community at the Far Inn Beach Hotel, Puttalam and Garden Beach Hotel, Kalutara, respectively,” the bank said in a media release.Those present at the occasion included, Deputy General Manager (Cooperative and Development) of the People’s Bank; T.A. Ariyapala, Assistant General Manager (SME), People’s Bank; Wickrama Narayana, Dr. B. Nishantha and Dr. Saman Dassanayake of the University of Colombo and the Commissioner, Department of Inland Revenue, Bandula Haputanthrige. A large number of customers and members of the SME community also participated at these workshops.

The bank said the programme is dedicated to educating small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the country on many important subject matters including entrepreneurship, business planning, sales management, financial accounting and management and tax related issues. The primary aim of such a programme is to enhance the ‘financial literacy’ of the members of this important industry segment so they can better manage their business ventures, the bank said.
