Kia Motors (Lanka), the sole distributor in Sri Lanka for the Korean automobile brand, has been presented with an award for the ‘Most Improved’ in the region at the 2014 Asia – Pacific Parts Conference of MOBIS – the spare parts division of the Kia-Hyundai Group, a media release revealed.

The award, which recognises ‘Outstanding Performance and Achievement,’ was presented by MOBIS CEO Myung-Chul Chung to Saman Peiris, Parts Manager of Kia Motors (Lanka) at the conference in Thailand. This is the second award won by the company from its

principal in the past 13 months. In May 2013, Kia Motors (Lanka) was adjudged Kia’s ‘Distributor of Distinction’ in acknowledgement of ‘Professionalism of the Highest Degree and Outstanding Sales Performance in the Asia Region.

The company media release quoted Mahen Thambiah, Managing Director of Kia Motors (Lanka) Ltd as saying “Kia sales have grown phenomenally in Sri Lanka over the past three years, so it is logical that imports of spare parts would also grow at a faster pace.Nevertheless, it takes a lot to win recognition in a region with several very much larger markets. MOBIS is now one of the top five automotive parts manufacturers in the world, and we are delighted to be recognised as its ‘Most Improved’ distributor in the region”.

Kia’s design-driven aesthetics and performance and value-for-money pricing with all the advances of technology, performance, features and comfort without the attendant high price of other design-driven brands, are the principal factors for the brand’s popularity, Mr. Thambiah added.

A maker of quality vehicles for the young-at-heart, Kia Motors Corporation (www.kia.com) was founded in 1944 and is Korea’s oldest manufacturer of motor vehicles. Over 2.7 million Kia vehicles a year are produced in 10 manufacturing and assembly operations in five countries which are then sold and serviced through a network of distributors and dealers covering around 150 countries. Kia Motors Corporation’s brand slogan – “The Power to Surprise” – represents the company’s global commitment to surprise the world by providing exciting and inspiring experiences that go beyond expectations.

Kia Motors (Lanka) has represented the brand in Sri Lanka since 1996.
