Oil-free compressor to make Sri Lankan food safe
View(s):Sri Lankan consumers are growingly concerned about food items being contaminated with substances injurious to health.
In this context, to solve the oil contamination in areas like refineries, food industry, pharmaceuticals, beverage industry, breweries, etc .,where oil should not be in these products, a local company is offering an oil free compressor as against normal copressors which are susceptible to oil contamination.
Matrix (Pvt) Ltd (Matrix) is offering this product through its principle Boge Kompressoren Otto Boge GmbH & Co, Germany (Boge), and to educate the local market, the company organised a workshop in Colombo this week for a selected group of industry people involved in the food industry.
Saman Tennakoon, Head of Sales –Matrix, on the sidelines of the workshop, told the Business Times that the problem in food and beverage industries is where the compressor in the production line could possibly inject oil into the products. He said that this is harmful to human health and there is a big impact on food safety, and this is where Boge’s oil free compressor becomes useful and safe.
Nalin Amunugama, General Manager, Boge Branch in Malaysia conducted the workshop.
By using this machine, he said, the savings are multiple, since there is no need to use expensive filters. He said that there are cheaper compressors available in the market but they would consume more energy.
