Sri Lankan wins County Council elections in UK

Sri Lankan Sujan Wickremaratchi, a member of the ruling Conservative Party won the County Council elections on May 2 in Hayward’s Heath Town Division, after 25 years of Liberal Democrat rule in this area.

He is now a Town Councillor for Hayward’s Heath, with the portfolio – Member Policy & Finance & Planning. He is also in the County Council Select Committee for Children & Young People and Planning.

He is also a Director at Warden Park Academy – a leading school in West Sussex- and Chairman of its Standards Committee.

Sujan has been in the UK for over 33 years. He is married to Nadeeka and they have two children – Ashen and Roshana. He studied at S. Thomas Prep School and S. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia and is an IT professional and businessman by trade. He is the only son of the late Mr.Wickremaratchige Lalith De Silva and Mrs. Ruth Jayatilake.
