The ACHE one of the foremost and popular education institutions in Sri Lanka, has several campuses located in many parts of the country; namely, Dehiwela, Negombo, Kandy,Kurunegela, Galle and Matara. Started in 1995, American College of Higher Education paves way to achieve an American Degree, as it is an International Centre of Broward College, Florida, USA, approved by the accrediting commission, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) USA. Teaching Standards of American College of Higher Education is unmatchable. The student-centered teaching and the academic opportunities available at American College of Higher Education supports students to broaden their knowledge and to gain lateral education to be flexible in adapting in any environment outside their major field of Education.

The student population at American College of Higher Education includes from all communities and foreign nationalities, which gives them first hand experience in ethnic harmony. This gives them opportunity of living and working together in a multinational environment which helps them to become versatile leaders in multi-ethnic environment.

As a quality assurance process Broward College, Florida USA visits ACHE twice a year to ensure academic quality and to meet students and faculty. From the 06th to 10th of May Broward College delegates will be available in Sri Lanka. The delegation will include Dr. Scott Mason, District Director for International education and Dr. Pedro Oliveira, faculty coordinator for Sri Lanka and professor in History and Political science.A special seminar on American education will also be conducted for prospective students and interested parents by the Broward delegates on the 07th May at 3.00 pm – 4pm at American College premises, Dehiwala.

American College offers Degree programmes in many disciplines. In addition there are ancillary courses in various fields, such as Tourism and Travel to Psychology, Marketing and Advertising, Teaching, Spoken English and grammar, Advanced English and Information Technology. The courses in these fields vary from Certificate, General Diploma to Advanced Diploma. The main campus is located at Dehiwala, which is just outside the Colombo City limits. The five branch campuses are located in Kandy, Kurunegala. Negambo,Galle and Matara

The English teaching programs conducted at these institutions cover primary, secondary and tertiary levels. A large number of students who are keen to improve proficiency in English attend the primary and secondary level classes. The tertiary programmes are conducted according to the stipulations laid down by Broward College, USA.

The General English classes conducted for primary and secondary students include Spoken English and Grammar; while the Diploma level classes cover pre-intermediate, intermediate, higher intermediate and advanced levels. There are also special classes for Business English and Diploma in English for professionals and English for academic purposes. These classes include the teaching of all skills in English with special emphasis on the teaching of grammar.

At the tertiary level, Degree classes are conducted according to the Broward syllabus as mentioned previously. All students who follow the Degree Programme study Composition I and II as a prerequisite for their Degree programmes. The textbooks are provided by Broward.

In addition to the above English programmes, ACHE also conducts classes on TOEFL, SAT. IELTS, GRE and GMAT for undergraduate and post graduate students. These exams pave the way to follow degree programmes abroad and a large number of students have entered foreign universities after pursuing studies at the ACHE.American College of Higher Education was also the first College to begin 2+2 transfer programmes or complete the degree programme at home itself. The students at American College of Higher Education who have transferred with their credits have been accepted to various universities in USA, Canada UK, Australia and many other countries and have fared really well. American College of Higher Education is very happy with these high achievers and they in turn say they look up to their Alma mater with pride and gratitude.
