“There are hundreds of heartbreaking stories of children living forgotten lives. Some children live on a mere Rs. 30 or 40 rupees a day,” said Managing Director of the Hameedia Group Fouzul Hameed, at the launch of the FH Guide as a part of the ‘My Friend’ initiative of Hameedias. The ‘My Friend’ project has lent a helping hand to educate underprivileged children across Sri Lanka for many years. This time around, ‘My Friend’ has collaborated with Dialog Axiata to launch a new SMS programme, which offers fashion and style tips for subscribers, with all proceeds generated being channelled to the project.

The event saw the participation of students from four schools – St. Mary’s College – Ratmalana, Darussalam Maha Vidyalaya – Maligawatta, Hindu College – Ratmalana and Kandawala Maha Vidyalaya – Ratmalana. The students were handed scholarships and school material.
“Dialog is extremely proud to be a part of the FH Guide, and we believe that the ‘My Friend’ project is an excellent initiative,” said Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, Group Chief Executive Officer, Dialog Axiata who was Chief Guest at the event.
Dialog users can subscribe to this service by typing ‘REG fhguide’ and sending the SMS to 77000.
