Sri Sunandopananda MV situated in Moratuwa has created success in both curricular and extracurricular activities. The school was founded in 1951.

Sri Sunandopananda MV was established as an English Medium school under the leadership of the principal Mr.U. J. Perera. The school was first named as the Egodauyana Junior English School. At first the school was conducted only in the afternoon sessions in the premises of Egodauyana Sugatha Darmadara Vidyalaya.

The school was moved to the present premises in 1957 and was able to conduct classes in its own buildings. In addition to curricular studies, they taught woodcraft, handicraft, science etc in their

syllabus. During that period the school was registered as Egoda Uyana M.V.

In 1960, under Mr. S. l. Fernando as the principal, the name of the school was changed once again as Sri Rajasingha M.V.
Later in the era of Mr D.J.Ranaweera, the school experienced considerable progress in 1964 which brought the school to a good position in the area. Remarkable progress was experienced in the area of sports in 1974 under the principal Mr.S.E.A. Amarasekara. Consequently with this remarkable progress the school was named as Sri Sunandopananda M.V.

With the passage of time the school was handed over to Mrs. P. C. Rodrigo from the year 2001. Under her the school headed towards vast development and presently the school has been selected as a secondary school which belong to the Thousand Schools Programme.

Since its establishment Sri Sunandopananda has done well in the field of education in the zone, producing good results at the G.C.E.

The Dancing Troop

Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations. This school has been accepted as one of the balanced school not only through remarkable results at examinations, but also with achievements in the field of sports, arts, music and other extra-curricular activities.
In 2006 a student from Sri Sunandopananda MV was selected for a trip to Japan on the Environment Diary Programme Competition conducted by Green Cross Sri Lanka and participated at the International Children’s Symposium in Japan. Previously in 2005 two students got the same chance and brought a lot of credit to the school.

Sri Sunandopananda MV is full of extracurricular activities such as sports, games, various societies, IT unit, aesthetic unit, etc. They annually bring not only

provincial level victories but also great success at national level.

Rumesh Ravindu and M.S.Fernando took first and second places in the ICT competition organized by Devi Balika Vidyalaya. M. Hanika Lakmini Fernando bagged the second place in Sociology as well as the Home Science quiz Competition while W.A.Shalani Imesh and Dinesh Madumal were placed second in their age group.
