Borgia champions at St. Bridget’s athletics meet

Borgia House, with a supreme tally of 446 points, snatched the championship of St. Bridget’s Convent’s annual inter-house athletic meet, which was held recently at the CCC Grounds for the 130th consecutive year. Melizan House with 426 points were runners-up, while Coudert and Griaux Houses, with 419 and 404 points respectively, emerged third and fourth.

Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando, Sectary General of the Athletics Association of Sri Lanka and Carmel Fernando were the event’s Chief Guests.

Navodha Perera of Melizan House won the coveted Challenge Trophy for the Best Athlete of the meet. Amongst the winners of Best Performance trophies was Amanthi Silva, School Games Captain, who is a member of the National Youth Athletics Pool.

The following students emerged champion athletes at the meet.

Under 19 – Kushnara Herath (Coudert House), Erandathi Nugawela (Griaux House) and Oshani Singapuliarachchi (Borgia)
Under 17 – Navodha Perera (Melizan House) and Shobita Rajendran (Melizan House) Under 15 – Thashiya Silva (Coudert House) Under 13 – Hiruki Vitharana (Melizan House) Under 11 – Chamodya Mahaliyana (Coudert House)
