‘Music Runway Idol’ – the show that is set to give space for home-grown talent has reached the final stages offer the competition after a colourful journey through the initial rounds. Aspiring to set a groundbreaking trend in reality television, the show brought together many of the country’s talents on one stage, with three eventual finalists gritting it through to the end – April Shokman, Nimesha Tharanga and the band Dark Stringz.

April Shokman, says that she was brought up with a strong passion for music. “Singing has been my most loved past-time and Music Runway Idol has given me the perfect opportunity to show my talents”, she mentions. April is a huge fan of Adele and is a die-hard fan of pop music, hinting at the possibility of audiences being feasted to a cover of one of Adele’s most loved songs at the Grand Finale.

Nimesha Tharanga, the aspiring young dancer has also come a long way in her performances, toeing the waters of success with her breathtaking dances. For Nimesha it’s all about practice and perseverance – the fundamentals that she spins her dancing web around. “I am determined to make a change in the programme, and I am certain I can get there”, she says with an undoubted passion.

The third finalist, Dark Stringz, is a band bent on alternate rock. Born out of a shared passion that they possessed during their schooling days, the band comprises Shiyan Dinulka, Rajitha Rambukwella, Sahan Ivanda, Shashintha Bandaranayaka, Lahiru Perera, Thenuka Witharana, Amandu Mallikarathne and Charitha Wijeyrathne.

The band says that it’s their family spirit that has helped them come right to the end of the competition, and spirits are high as the finale looms. The winner of the competition will get the opportunity to work with renowned artists and have their music videos produced. The finale will comprise of two rounds, with one contestant with one contestant being eliminated as the rounds progress. The finals will be held on December 21 at the British School Auditorium.
