The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has expressed concern over the recent developments pertaining to the impeachment process relating to the Chief Justice.

In a carefully worded statement, the chamber said: “The chamber strongly believes that mutual respect and trust between the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary, and the Rule of Law are essential prerequisites that are crucial for rapid economic development and for the achievement of development targets that we have set upon ourselves to achieve. Therefore, the chamber urges all three organs of the State to act with care and caution to ensure that the comity between the organs of State is maintained at all times, in the National interest.”
