Badminton players of OKI International School Wattala were in the spotlight at the recently held Gampaha District Junior National Badminton Championship.

The tournament was held from August 28 to 30. Among the shuttlers who brought fame to OKI were Janith Fernando, Sirimevan Peiris and Induka Pulasti.

Fernando who is also the district champion in his age category won the Under-11 singles championship at the competition. Peiris and Pulasti won the third place of the Under-15 boy’s doubles event.

Other winners for OKI were Duluksha Rajapaksha who was placed third in the boy’s Under-11 singles, Aishwarya Ravichandran who was placed third in the girl’s Under-11 singles event, Janith Fernando and Chavindu Kavishka who were placed third in the Under-13 boy’s doubles and Dinuwan Fernando and Rukshan Babu who emerged as district quarterfinalists in the boy’s Under-13 doubles event.
