Transfer scheme for police officers still being prepared: Spokesman

View(s):

Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said yesterday the police are still in the process of formulating a transfer scheme.
For this purpose, IGP N.K.Illangakoon is now working out a new transfer policy in consultation with all stakeholders such as the Junior Officers’ Association, the Inspectors’ Association, the Senior Police Officers’ Association and relevant authorities, he told the Sunday Times.

He denied that the Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended that police officers be moved out every year.
Public Service Commission (PSC) Secretary C.Senaratne told the Sunday Times “Police officers have brought up complaints about issues over transfers and promotions.

Therefore we informed the Inspector General of Police to work out a transfer scheme similar to what is in existence for public servants.”
