Australia recorded an easy 56 runs win over New Zealand in their warm up game played at the NCC ground yesterday.  But even then the runner-up of the last championship Australia cannot be satisfied with their batting performance. The openers David Warner and Shane Watson though adding 28 runs, their middle order batting failed as they lost quick wickets being able to make only a score of 62 at the halfway stage.

A partnership of 46 runs for the Glen Maxwell and Mathew Wade helped them a respectable score of 139. In reply New Zealand’s batting were in tatters as they began the innings losing their first wicket in the second ball of the first over and from there on the Kiwis never recovered.

They were 59 for 7 in the 14th over and the Australians finished off the tail to end their innings for a paltry 83 in the 17th over.
Australia 139 for 6 in 20 overs (Shane Watson 27, David Warner 24, Glenn Maxwell 24, Mathew Wade 25 n.o.: Adam Milne 2 for 27, Doug Bracewell 2 for 31)

New Zealand 83 in 17 overs (Ross Taylor 22, Kane Williamson 17: Brad Hogg 3 for 23, Shane Watson 2 for 7, Pat Cummins 2 for 13, Clint Mckay 2 for 14)
