Vidyartha outwit St. Joseph’s

Vidyartha, spearheaded by their inspirational skipper Jason Dissanaike, indulged in a refreshing display of open rugby to outwit St. Joseph’s by 41 points (3 Goals, 4 Tries) to 31 (3 Goals, 2 Tries) at Nittawela.

The fact that the visitors gave as good as they got is reflected in the first half scores of 19-12 in favour of the Joes. Jason Dissanaike scored 4 tries, mostly off second and third phase moves. Centre Dhanushka Talwatte, fly half Ashan Bandara and lock Lahiru Ratnadivakara were the others who touched down. Scrum half Chamath Fernando was responsible for the conversions.

Prop Yohan Keyser, number eight Jason Melder and fly half Rehan Thiyagarajah scored tries for the Joes. The last named put over the conversions.

This is Vidyartha’s first win following a draw and a loss.
