The Academy of Design (AOD) was founded in the year 2000 with the vision of offering undergraduate education in design and promoting design as both a serious education discipline and a dynamic profession in Sri Lanka. Today, AOD is pleased to announce yet another milestone in its celebrated journey of design education with the launch of Sri Lanka's first UK degree programmes in Design in collaboration with the School of Design at Northumbria University (NU), UK.

Students wishing to pursue their Higher Education in Fashion Design, Interior Design or Graphics Design and obtain a BA (Hons) Degree can now complete their entire education in Sri Lanka! The only pathway available till now for students wishing to obtain a Design Degree was the costly option of studying overseas in the UK, USA, Australia or Singapore. AOD's International accepted BA (Hons) Degree Programme costs less than one fifth the amount required to study overseas, making the programme extremely affordable to Sri Lanka.

Northumbria University Partnership

AOD students will received the same BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Interior Design or BA (Hons) Graphic Design qualification as the NU student in the UK. Upon graduation, AOD students can apply for any job opportunity around the globe or complete their Masters Degree at NU over a one year period. NU is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in design practice, learning and research with an enviable reputation of producing innovative and highly creative designers that make directional contributions within the international design and business arena. NU degree programmes are designed to meet the changing needs of industry, delivering relevant cutting edge skills and employing strategic design thinking in response to new developments and emerging business opportunities.
