APIIT talent show - ‘Tantalize’

The annual talent show of A.P.I.I.T, "Tantalize", kicks off yet again bigger and better than ever before!
With the participation of many local universities and institutes, the event promises to be a thrilling evening filled with mind blowing talent, great fun and an awesome atmosphere! To deliver this promise we have assembled a team that consists of 50 full time members under the guidance of the Student Activity Club of APIIT and the past organizing committee of Tantalize, guaranteeing that the event will be an unforgettable experience.

A snapshot of what's in store was evident at the recently concluded auditions that were held at the Russian Cultural Centre. The auditions were a melting pot of cultures and styles in all categories. The audience consisted of many, young and old alike, but they shared one thing in common, the unquestionable excitement on their face! Most of the performers encouraged the audience to join in as well and that got the crowd on their feet, and snapping their fingers or singing along to the music most of the time.

Most of the participating groups and individuals had their own creative "twist" which was undoubtedly highly entertaining, and even the more reserved individuals took up the challenge and displayed their talents to the amazement of their peers. There was never a dull moment for the crowd as one minute they were entertained by the music of the bands and instrumental groups and in the next overwhelmed by the power packed performances of those in the dance category.

Speaking on the importance of having such an event the President of the APIIT Student Activity Club Aravinda Gunathilake stated that Tantalize is quite a unique event as it provides a platform for students to have a chance to display their talents which would otherwise not be recognized. He further explained that the event is also a musical rendezvous for students of diverse universities and institutes, which promotes harmony among students of both local and private higher education institutes. This event is not about profits and monetary benefits, but giving the students a platform to showcase their talents. All profits generated from this event will go towards the provision of IT facilities for a school in Polonnaruwa. The relevant educational authorities have been contacted, and they have agreed to facilitate the donation.

With the successful conclusion of the auditions, which is but the tip of the iceberg, strenuous preparations are being carried out for the grand finale, scheduled to take place on August 8. The organizing team has been working tirelessly to ensure that the finals are both amazingly fun and of the highest standard possible. To achieve this we have chosen the newly refurbished Ananda Auditorium with the latest audio visual technology. We have also acquired the services of professionals with experience in handling events of this magnitude for the lighting and sounds.

As the finalists prepare to take the stage in an effort to triumph over one another, they will be sharing the limelight with several other highly popular artists who are also set to perform at the event. As the countdown towards the grand finale begins, we can guarantee a mind-blowing experience in an exciting evening which will most definitely be the ultimate quest for unmatchable talent!
