Trinity humble Kingswood |
Trinity too finished off their Under 19 Division 1A league campaign in style with a fine 35-22 win over hometown rivals Kingswood in their final game played at Pallekele yesterday.
The score after being deadlocked at 22 each saw the Lions prevail as they accumulated their points through three goals, a try and three penalties while Kingswood scoring came off two goals, one try and a penalty.
It was fluctuating fortunes for both sides with each taking the lead at different times. But the second half saw the Lions going into the game with a different game plan.
Though Kingswood made the first scoring and led 12-0 thereafter the Lions put up a great come back as a late burst rally saw them rattle the Kingswoodians with some robust play.
They dominated this session winning most of the possessions supported by their stout defenders. In contrast nothing came right for the Randle Hill boys as they were made to fight hard in the latter part.
For Trinity skipper Vishwajith Wijesinghe, winger Kennon Armstrong, winger Dinuk Nanayakkara and No 8 Shennon Armstrong scored the tries with Kennon Armstrong doing the conversion and booting over the penalties.
For Kingswood full back Rajitha Sansoni went over for two tries and hooker Ujitha Jayasuriya one with skipper Roshan Weeraratne did the conversions.
