Festival of Cricket in London

The Sri Lankan Schools Old Boys Associations resident in the UK will have their Festival of Cricket on July 12 at the Winchmore Hill Cricket Club Grounds, London N21 3ER. The event commences at 9 am and concludes at about 8 pm.

The event is organized by the Festival of Cricket committee, which is made up of representatives of the Sri Lankan Schools Old Boys Associations resident in the UK

This multi-ethnic festival establishes goodwill and harmony amongst Sri Lankans in the UK and is the biggest annual gathering of the Sri Lankan community and their friends in the UK and from abroad. The FOC attracts over 5000 people annually, and now in its 21st year, it has reached a standard of a mini world cup, displaying excellent cricketing talent, where 24 teams, of 7 a-side, consisting of former schoolboy and club cricketers.

A host of other activities also held around the grounds keep the crowds entertained throughout the day, such as live music, a Sri Lankan Bazaar, international hot food stalls, Beer tent, UK and Sri Lankan based trade stalls, and children’s entertainment.

All proceeds of the FOC are divided amongst the participating schools to purchase educational materials, equipment for their schools and donations towards scholarship funds in Sri Lanka. Proceeds from the FOC Grand Charity raffle and other charity projects are donated to National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka and Cancer Research

The Chief Guest will be Justice Nihal Jayasinghe, His Excellency the High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in the UK. His Worship the Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield, the Chief of Police, representatives from Marylebone Cricket Club and Cancer Research – UK, the Chairman of Bank of Ceylon, the Country Manager UK for SriLankan Air Lines, The Chief Executive Officer of SM Call – Dialog, will be among other national and international eminent guests. The main Sponsor is Bank of Ceylon, and co-Sponsors are SriLankan Airlines and SM Call – Dialog.
