Angelo still ahead

By M. Shamil Amit

Peterite skipper Angelo Perera’s popularity still continues as he yet heads the list of the Allisland count for the ninth consecutive week in The Sunday Times-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the year contest.
Perera polled 1841 votes this week to stay at the top with a total of 7685 votes while his closest foe Isham Ghouse of Zahira College netted in a substantive 1581 votes to stay put in the second place with tally of 6696 votes against his name.

In the Outstation Contest Niwanka Abeyrathne of Sri Sumangala College, Panadura is fighting it out with Amith Tillekeratne of Sri Rahula College, Kandy. The two students have polled 1318 and 1091 votes respectively.
In the International Schools’ section it seem that Aadhil Niyas of Gateway College is forging ahead leaving behind last year’s winner and his team mate Malith Silva way behind. At the end of count number nine Niyas has polled 1445 votes while Malith Silva has 812 votes against his name.
