Milinda Siriwardena’s ton in vain
Inter-Provincial Cricket

A 263 ball knock of 135 from Milinda Siriwardena inclusive of 13 boundaries and two sixes was in vain as it could not prevent Lexmark Basnahira South from conceding a first inning lead to Hirdaramani Ruhuna on day three of their Inter-Provincial cricket encounter played at the Colts ground.

Lexmark Basnahira South who resumed their innings from a strong position of 202 for 2 were able to muster only 383 in reply to Hirdaramani Ruhuna’s 450. It was the career best unbeaten knock of 265 by Upul Tharanga that paved the way for this mammoth score. Tharanga’s knock comprised 27 boundaries and three sixes.

Milinda was also associated in a 175 runs partnership for the third wicket with his skipper Chamara Silva who made 86. The match will be continued at 10.00 a.m. today.

MAS Holdings Wayamba on top

Kanchana Gunawardena and Nadeera Nawela put MAS Holdings Kandurata on top at the end of the third days play in the Inter-Provincial encounter against Lanka Bell Wayamba played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.
MAS Holdings resuming from their overnight score of 219 for 2 ended the third days play on 388 for 7 after bowling out their opponents for 394.

The duo was involved in a massive 234 runs partnership for the third wicket before Kanchana was dismissed for 121 which included 13 boundaries. This was followed by another fruitful stand of 101 runs for the fourth wicket between Nadeera Nawela and Jeewan Mendis who made 73 before they were separated.
Nadeera remained unbeaten on 140 which had 11 boundaries. MAS Holdings Kandurata need another six runs to overhaul their opponents score when resumes at 10.00 a.m. today.
