SL Ambassador to Qatar thanks Emir, asks Lankan expats to remain vigilant
View(s):Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Qatar, Sithara Khan, has joined the Lankan community in the state to place on record the country’s appreciation to the Emir and the government of Qatar for the assurances of security and the measures taken so far to safeguard all citizens, residents and visitors in the country.
Ms Khan requested Lankans living and working in Qatar to act with understanding and remain resilient during these challenging times.
She urged all Lankans to follow the safety guidelines and protocols issued by the Ministry of Interior, including remaining calm, acting responsibly and moving promptly to a safe location when alerts are issued, while avoiding gatherings and open areas due to the risk of falling shrapnel and debris.
“The Qatar Government continues to give its commitment to ensure the safety of residents in Qatar, as well as the uninterrupted provision of essential supplies and healthcare services. Please continue to stay updated on developments through news and official communications as conveyed by the Qatar authorities as well as the Embassy’s website and social media,” she said.
She added that the embassy is in close contact with the Qatar authorities, and the government of Sri Lanka remains confident that the situation will return to
normal soon.
