NEXT Campus, Colombo proudly announced the launch of South Asia’s first Bachelor’s Degree in Airline, Airport, and Aviation Management, awarded by London Metropolitan University, bringing globally recognised aviation education to
Sri Lanka and the wider region.

The official launch was marked on 25 February 2026 when NEXT Campus hosted a specially curated Aviation Day at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute. The event comprised of the inauguration and orientation of the BSc (Hons) Airline, Airport and Aviation Management degree programme, followed by networking among industry professionals, academics, aviation experts, alumni, parents, and newly enrolled students.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Dusty Alahakoon, Founder and Chairman of NEXT Campus, shared his vision under the theme “Shaping the Future of Aviation Education,” highlighting how international academic collaboration and industry integration will redefine aviation education standards in Sri Lanka.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Sunil Jayarathne emphasised the growing importance of academically trained aviation professionals in ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence within both local and international aviation sectors.

The event was further honoured by the presence of ICAO Global Ambassadors Prabath Kularathne (also the Head of Promotions of the Civil Aviation Authority, Sri Lanka) and Dr.

Upuli Warnakula who shared valuable industry insights with students and parents, highlighting emerging global aviation opportunities and career pathways.
