View(s):Some thoughts to keep Nuwara Eliya clean during the season
I am a resident of Nuwara Eliya. Every year, thousands of visitors come to Nuwara Eliya during the holiday season and this beautiful town becomes polluted and dirty, ill-equipped to cope with that vast influx.
I have a few suggestions to help keep Nuwara Eliya clean:
- Traffic wardens should be entrusted with the responsibility of making sure that the town is kept clean and people do not litter.
- A row of portable toilets should be set up in crowded areas such as Lake Gregory, outside the Park, within the Park, near the Post office etc.
- Temporarily shift the Bus Stand to near the old Railway Station and convert the bus stand area to a hawker street with food stalls.
- Close the roads to traffic and make this a walking area only – for one month.
