LankaPay’s Awards honours Payment Technology Innovation
LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s National Payment Network, announced the 8th edition of the LankaPay Technnovation Awards, recognised as the first and only awards competition in Sri Lanka dedicated to payment technology innovation, setting a national benchmark for excellence in digital payments.
The theme for this year’s awards is “Inclusive FinTech,” which aims to honour financial institutions, FinTech companies, and government entities that have boosted access to financial services across the country through innovative digital payment solutions.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 24 at Cinnamon Life, with Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank, serving as the Chief Guest. The event has garnered significant industry and public engagement, including an online poll for the “Most Popular Digital Payment Solution of the Year 2025.”
“As Sri Lanka embraces digitalisation, the financial sector has demonstrated resilience and a forward-looking approach, playing a critical role in economic stability and ensuring that digital financial services reach a wider audience,” LankaPay CEO Channa de Silva said, addressing the media conference.
The LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2026 celebrate those who have contributed to financial inclusion, empowering individuals and businesses while fostering a more inclusive digital economy, Chairman of the panel of judges Rajeeva Bandaranaike said. “These awards help to raise the bar and enable secure, faster and better digital services. The justice elected there of all these on the skill set, an unbiased, just judging process. We want to encourage digitalisation in the country.”
Vasantha Alwis, Director of Payments and Settlements at the Central Bank, noted that digital payments give financial freedom to the users with seamless activation and limited inconvenience. “These awards will encourage such transformational entities.”
The event is supported by several leading industry players, including Mastercard and BPC as Strategic Partners, along with Platinum Sponsors UnionPay International and NOVUS Technologies.
