Project officers see salaries triple
View(s):Salaries for staff assigned to implement special development projects have shot up nearly three times compared to the past under the newly proposed salary scale, according to a circular issued by the General Treasury.
Under the special projects category, projects with the estimated total cost of USD five million and an implementation timeframe of one year can be considered to set up a separate Project Management Unit (PMU) with dedicated staff on a full-time basis.
Accordingly, a Category A Project Director who will oversee the project is eligible for a salary of Rs 300,000 – Rs 330,000 compared to the previous scale of Rs 120,000 – Rs 140,000, according to the new circular issued this week.
The significant increase of nearly three times the salary compared to the previous scale is applicable to all categories. The salary of Category F – Technical Officer/Project Officer is fixed as Rs 120,000-Rs. 135,000 compared to the past salary range of Rs Rs 65,000-71,000.
